21.05.2020 Slightly sharper smudges.

Post by Rusted »

The seeing soon went bad after teasing me with still, but rather soft, glimpses.
Chalky smudges from AS!3. ImPPG saved the day again!
These are cropped from 800x600, 100 of 1000 frames. Using a T-S 1.6x binoviewer GPC.
Thank goodness to have something on the disk!

Those came out nice! The choice of color works pretty well too.

Hi Rusted
Do you use flats when imaging with FireCapture?
I use a really useful box lid with self adhesive magnets stuck to it to de focus, I have a steel dew cap so even though it can be 12 feet in the air I can just pop it on and it stays in place.
My Zeiss should have ladders attached to it as it is stable enough :D

Cheers Rod

Hi Rusted,

Good job in pulling out the details in a noisy environment!

Hi Rod,

I did use flats for a while but was getting "rain drops" in the image from my choice of plastic, garbage sack.
I haven't been to the shops because of the pandemic so haven't been able to obtain a one use, translucent, grocery bag.
My flat "cell" is made from a round baking tin with a 6" hole cut out of the bottom. It fits nicely onto the 160mm D-ERF cell.
I bought a short but sturdy, 2-tread, Jumbo, industrial stepladder to hop and down safely so I could reach. Only 18" high and rock solid!
Saves having a full sized stepladder in the dome.

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for the kind words.
The disturbed region is an amazingly complex and beautiful structure.
It was changing all day as the seeing conditions came and went.
There were tantalising moments of completely stationary images on the monitor.

I was capturing lots of 500 frame videos [in under 2 seconds each] in the hope of better things.
I'll have to go through them all to sort out the worthwhile videos for processing.

Hi,

I agree! I like the clarity and detail of black and white.

Most imagers seem to colour their work so I just tagged along. :D

These are really lovely and it's great to see the subtle detail in the structure in this AR :bow :hamster: colour is art :) either loved by all or hated by all
