May 21 AR and Proms in H alpha

Post by p_zetner »

Hi Everyone.

Another opportunity to image the big AR and prominences. Spells of reasonably good morning seeing allowed me (finally) to capture some more detail in the proms. I had high hopes of imaging in CaK but a cloudless sky turned rapidly ugly.

Equipment used: Aries ERF, C8 Edge, Moonlite CHL focuser, ~4.4x Telecentric, Daystar QPE 0.6A, ~0.7x FR, Point Grey USB3 Grasshopper IMX174 2.8Mpx CMOS

Cheers.
Peter

Terrific details when viewed in full resolution! This looks like you had really good seeing! What was the exposure time?

Thanks everyone!
Frank, I was pretty lax about recording my camera settings ...bad scientific form for sure! I think I pushed the exposure time to about 8ms for the proms (full gain on the camera!). Exposure of around 5ms for the surface image.
Cheers.
Peter
