2020-05-23, Ca-k in the mid section of the Sun

It didn’t expect to set up today but during lunch it looked rather promising. Except for the gusting winds from the west. But it had rained and cleared the heavy pollen and airborne junk from the sky.
I also knew from prior experience that the high winds would have provided the benefit of a ‘scrubbed’ astronomical air with some of the best seeing for a while.
Anyway I ended up with 5 movies. The jet stream showed some 26 m/s of very disturbed air in the am some 34 m/s which is even worse, 20 m/s usually corresponds to bad seeing.

The image that I show here all by eye, showed a final :-
SSM Min : 00.68
SSM Average : 00.94
SSM Max : 01.41
So I got rather lucky and hyped up with Grateful Dead ‘Jams on youtube’, I give you this.

The equipment, Point Grey IMX174, Barlow 3x, Lunt 1800, Baader 2” Blue CCD and the Vixen telescope.

Hope its fine were you are.
John

Hola, buenos dias Rainer.
Hi, I am in Central London 10 mins walking from the British Museum.
When we are not in lockdown I am in La Palma the Canary Islands but not on the mountain!
Best wishes.

That's a beauty John :bow :hamster: I was going to ask where you were too. We had terrible gales all weekend and there are lots of trees down on our walk this morning, I hope there weren't too many birds nests in them :( the weather has just cleared now so I am hoping tomorrow morning will be good.
