Geomagnetic Activity 18th-20th February 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

The predicted fast flowing solar wind on SpaceWeather.com has arrived, corresponding with an uptick in geomagnetic activity on my magnetometer here in the UK. My plot shows the arrival of the Co-rotating Interaction Region (CIR) on the 19th that sparked superb aurora and the arrival today of fast flowing solar wind from a coronal hole. It should be a great night for aurora spotters, but don't hold me to it :)

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the update Stu! I've seen quite a few nice aurora pickies online from this fast flowing solar wind.

Many thanks, Mark and Alexandra.

Here's an updated chart from this afternoon. Things seem to be quietening down a little, but you never quite know if it's over, until it's over.
