Hello,
Today I received the H spectrum tubes ordered on Ebay.
Lacking the dedicated power supply, I am experimenting with some CCFL supply modules that I had laying around.
So far they seem to work fine: the discharge is stable and nothing is overheating (duty cycle 20 seconds ON, one minute OFF).
They are basically High Voltage, High Frequency, Current-Limited power supplies so the lifetime of the tube should be preserved.
The CCFL unit was drawing 1A from the 12V power supply, at least the power level was in line with the nameplate of the spectrum tube (1,000V @10mA). I'll take some proper measurements of the tube current once I have access to my lab, since we are currently on lockdown again
I'll keep you updated.
Cheers
Fabio
