Moon images 19th May 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

A couple of images from yesterday taken in evening daylight. The seeing conditions were quite poor, with lots of residual shimmering in the atmosphere.

I love the ruggedness of the moon, particularly when illuminated with oblique sunlight, where shadows in the some of the craters reveal tall peaks around the rim.

Here's a mosaic along most of the terminator.

....and a two pane mosaic taking a closer look at the mountains and craters.

Thanks for looking.

Nice and crisp images, Stu.

Were those shot using your RC or you had to settle for something smaller?

Hi Jochen,

Yes, these were captured on the 250mm RC scope. The conditions were not ideal, but sufficient.

Cheers

Stu.
