28.06.2021 Massive flare SW of AR12835

Post by Rusted »

I captured a brilliant flare in the disturbed region just below [SW] AR12835.
It lasted about half an hour., 10-10.30[CET]
Little sign of flaring at 09.50[CET] Maximum about 10.10 [CET]
I'll have to check my video captures to be certain of the timing.
It was so bright I couldn't tame it with SharpCap. It bleached out to solid white.

Some of you may be interested in the seeing conditions I had at the time of capture.
Descriptions don't usually do it justice. Here is the 10.10 CET video capture:
SharpCap was deliberately darkened to try and bring out detail in the flare. [Unsuccessfully!]
The comparison with the processed image [above] speaks volumes about the incredibly clever [free] software we have available.
SharpCap, Autostakkert [AS!3.14] ImPPG and Photofiltre7.

Flaring again from the same disturbed area. Seeing deteriorating.

A new spot is emerging from the limb: I saw a flare or prom, on the limb, just below it earlier.

Fabulous pics catching the sun in the act, Rusted. The penumbra and light bridges are very well defined in your images.

Excellent post Chris and along with those excellent images of yours, show well that this region is very active.
Also well done on the first SolarChatter image of the newbie in the N.E. - likely to be AR2837.

Thanks for sharing
Terry

Thanks. :bow

It has been amazing day for better quality seeing conditions.

Morning and late afternoon were best. The bit in the middle was the usual mush.
Not quite one of those magical days. Where the solar surface is lying under shallow, crystal clear water.
Where you just have to wait for it to settle to capture it all. But still very acceptable. :D

Excellent Chris!
Thanks for sharing.
I observed something similar in that area at about 17:00 pm CET.
I am not sure if I capture it. I was so disappointed by the failure of the masking experiment today and the off band slide with time during animations, that I have not fully processed the animation of today.
Hope tomorrow will regain my solar energy. ;-)
Best wishes,
Alexandros

Thanks again for your encouragement. :bow

My countless hours practising imaging and processing is finally paying off.
Thank goodness for retirement. I highly recommend it. :D
