Bulging Disk 22-08-2021

Post by Martin_S »

I guess most solar observers are concentrating on the latest AR, AR2859 which is looking promising . Here is a feature I noticed on the south east today.
I noticed what appeared to be a high area on the suns disk edge, so to be sure it wasn't a prominence I took a series of 30 minute animations.
I haven't seen seen anything this size before, the animation seams to indicate that the bulge appears to be a surface feature. I'm not sure what the correct name for this would be, if anybody knows I'd be most interested. I took some Cak images earlier and the same bump can be seen on one of my images.

Martin.

Superb work Martin, that bulge will come round as a smooth worm like filament as it progresses round the limb. I am sure this is associated with an AR region especially if bright in CaK :hamster: :bow

I would be curious to see this visually. Martin, could you post the CaK image of it?
