Spots and Flare in CaK with a T300

Post by allhoest »

Hi,

Still in St Veran.
I'm switching now to a CaK setup, with the non coated T300.
While imaging 2 small spots, then came a flare.
I needed to set down the shutter settings capture after capture.
The flare itself developed up and down during ~2 minutes.

Impressive! Yes. And these spots are actually quite small.

OH MY Goodness!!! a CaK flare in animation too!! these are so good :bow :bow :bow

I always imagined these events happened on the surface but when you watch this closely in a large version view, it looks like this is above the two spots and connecting like lightning in the surrounding space above. I have never seen this at such high resolution before and is highly intriguing.

Alex:
Super shots, the flare looks like a lightning bolt in the animation.
Best regards,
Eric.

Do you find the solar Newtonian has fewer aberrations at 400nm than a typical refractor? I have a smaller one (130mm) and I had assumed it would be sharper than my 106mm APO refractor. But I could not really tell since I was limited by seeing rather than optical aberrations. In the few comparisons I made, the refractor was actually better.
