Saying Goodbye to AR2882 | Oct 15th 2021

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

I got a break this evening in late afternoon daylight time, 4pm Eastern approximately, to watch the parting activity of AR2882 as it goes around the limb. There's an interesting prominence region and some little disturbances here and there, but otherwise the disc is very empty again. Though it looks like something powerful may be coming our way soon. I finally got around finishing a project involving being able to use my 214mm multi-band DERF (Aries) on other scopes beyond my 200mm options, so had an excellent ERF holding cell 3D printed to fit smaller 150mm and 120mm options with a mask system to control the options and I got it done today so was able to get a first light with it and make sure everything functions correctly as I move towards my next mod step (involving a Lunt etalon).

Nice work Marty. The disc is starting to calm down now a bit with AR12882 leaving the scene. Today had some decent prominences which are well sgown in your images.

Thanks for posting.

James

Very good images Marty. Well done. These are the best I’ve seen coming out of Florida in quite some time.
