17th October Ha

Post by robert »

Unexpected sunshine today. Rather blank disc but some prominences. I also noticed my blocking filter is rusting. Checking my records it was new in 2009 and in 2015 I replaced a rusted green filter. It seems to be on a 6 year cycle. Very wet and humid here.

That's a beauty Robert :bow :hamster: but sorry to hear about the blocking filter, I hope you can get it fixed again. Do you store it with a desiccant bag when not in use?

I have a small heater in where I store gear but no desiccant.

However I had a better look at it and found the old blue (not green) filter from 2015, and the instructions for replacing it from Lunt. This made me remember someone on the forum mentioning that they clean up quite well with lens cleaner. It is more like a patina of mould and not rusting. So I have now got two fairly clear filters and have put the better one back in the blocking filter!

The forum is very useful! Thanks Alexandra
