Minor CME impact 30th/31st October 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Here are my magnetometer data from last night here in the UK when a minor CME impacted Earth's magnetic bubble creating beautiful aurora.
There's another one on it's way (stronger, maybe) resulting from the X-class flare on the 28th.

Our very own Mark T was on the ground in Iceland and saw/photographed the resulting light show.

Sadly it was a one hit wonder and didn't come up to expectation, probably because we had clear weather  tonight will be the main show with rain and gales ;)

Thanks for showing you data Stuart :bow

If a second blow is to come it will be interesting to see your readings and if it translates to high aurora activity

Thanks vm Stuart for your excellent data and yes indeed if the big one from AR2887 strikes in our dark-skies, the mind boggles so-far - as to what it will deliver...

Thanks, Mark. It’s great to see the two aspects of the event ‘side by side’.
