Wings on Fire
No, its not a real fire on the airliner, neither its a huge prominence. This is an optical illusion caused by the hot fume coming from the airliner's exhaust. This image of captured earlier this year in the month of January during sunset.

Re: Wings on Fire
Yes indeed, the stuff that leaves trails as water-vapour in the skies is back in anger - as all the flying gets back to normal.
I saw much of that this evening during a night sky session, with one jet crossing the high-Moon leaving its' fumes behind.
An excellent capture showing why...
Thanks for sharing

Re: Wings on Fire
Thank you Terry! Yes, I too saw and captured an airliner transiting the moon, and it looks amazing! Solar transits bring more drama to me!EGRAY_OBSERVATORY wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:10 am Yes indeed, the stuff that leaves trails as water-vapour in the skies is back in anger - as all the flying gets back to normal.

Re: Wings on Fire
Superb image. I bet the pilot and crew would love this photograph if they knew.
