Sun Saturday 20 November, 2021 Filaments

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: today a clear sky with fair seeing. In my opinion the major features were the two large filaments, and in particular the very long snake like one. These are my captures of the filaments while I process the sunspot images.

Franco, these look really good. Lots of depth! The mottles are well resolved into spicules too. I really like these.

Wow!! these are superb Franco!! :bow :hamster:

I'm currently sat watching this filament, it has two bright spots by the anchor points, I feel it may let go over the next 24 hrs :)

Thank you all for your very kind comments. Here are a couple of images of the sunspots. They were pretty noisy, so the quality is not that great. @barnstorm: the equipment used is the HaT 203mm scope with and without the 0.7 focal reducer, the SS 0.3a filter and the PG 174 camera. The close up of the filament is at full focal length f/26.5. The wide field views were using the reducer and the large chip PG 814 camera. Processing was Autostakkert 3, ImPPG and Astra Image.
