A few quick pics in the cold 1/10/2022

Post by rigel123 »

Froze my hands off but I could not pass up a blue sky! Just set up my Port-A-Mount II with the Lunt LS60T DS on it and grabbed frames as the disk moved through the FOV. Close ups with a 2X Barlow, ASI174MM Wind was gusting to about 15mph but stacking helped! Best 90 of 500 frames.

Hi again Warren, these are fab captures - clearly showing the action on and around the disk.

I have replied to your previous comment of the Orion ED80T-CF and wonder whether you have any suggestion about removing the objective ??

Cheers
Terry

Warren,
Nice job on disc and limb. Those prominences and filaments show up really well. I could do not nearly so good visually on filaments today.

Great Imaging Warren, the results are well worth braving the cold for.

Some really good results in the cold, Warren. The disc is excellent, close up and proms very good too.

Thanks Mark, Martin, Alexandra and Franco! It is supposed to be clear all day today but starting this morning out at 10F with an 8mph breeze. Maybe I’ll wait until this afternoon when it is at least supposed to get up to 28F!

Great images Warren :bow

You managed to get them on an alt-az mount, and in the cold too! I'm not the only one dealing with winter

As someone who has done their fair share of imaging in frigid conditions, thank you for your sacrifice! It was worth it, great images!
