G1 Geomagnetic Storms 5th - 6th March 2022

Post by Carbon60 »

Fast flowing solar wind with a southerly oriented magnetic field (southerly Bz) sparked beautiful aurora over night and moved magnetometer needles around the globe including my own here in the UK. Actually, needles are old school and we now rely on electronic systems to detect and record the minute changes in our local magnetic field resulting from solar activity.

Here are my data, recorded over the period 5th-6th March, which show the arrival of at least two G1 class geomagnetic storms. Things seem to be quieting down now...until next time.

Good record Stu, i've seen quite a few pictures of the resultant aurora on social media.
