ASTROSURFACE free software
Has anyone tried the free software Astrosurface?. It is great and your should give a go. Lots of features for solar imaging (wavelets, deconvolution...)

Re: ASTROSURFACE free software
Hello Pedro,
I use it for planetary imaging. There is a lot of flexibility in deconvolution / wavelet / noise filtering.

Re: ASTROSURFACE free software
I tried it today and it is great. It does almost everything (align, stack, post-processing...)

Thanks for the heads up! I'll leave here for a couple of days to get some coverage then move it to the software section.

Re: ASTROSURFACE free software
Dear all,
I am also looking at this software (there is a thread on this on Cloudy nights forum) and I will going to try it out.
May I use this opportunity to ask what is your approach with LR deconvolution versus wavelets/unsharp masking?
In the tutorial of this software it says to use the deconvolution only as a possible after the wavelets. The same is suggested in the wonderful solar astronomy book edited by Christian. On the other hand, in the ImPPG tutorial it says the opposite, with the deconvolution being applied as first step and possibly followed by a little of unsharp masking. What is your philosophy?
Thanks a lot and sorry for the slight off topic.
Best, Daniele

Re: ASTROSURFACE free software
I always used deconvolution prior to other sharpening techniques. This is based on my prior workflow from DSO imaging.daniele_bonfiglio wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 6:16 am Dear all,

Re: ASTROSURFACE free software
I agree. I also use deconvolution before any other sharpening techniques. Astrosurface is a good option but I use mainly other softs, mainly IMPPG for HR imaging

I've always had the best results first doing LR deconvolution using Astra Image, then tweeking with unsharp masking in either PS or Astra Image.
