Full disc 15-03-2022

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Again Sun and a new image of the setup as last year I decomissioned some telescopes like the Fat Boy Mewlon 250 as the iOptron mounts I have are a disappointment in regard to what they promised and what they deliver. I trusted iOptron and they miserable failed ... I bought two CEM 120EC2 with encoders on both axis. So if you think in buying encoder mounts do not buy them from iOptron. If I would ahve known that they took a too ig bite in their mouth I would ahve bought the plain vanilla CEM 120. I can disable the encoders but then the truth came out. Worms with peak to peak 40" arc seconds periodic error and they did not want to accept it ... and left me standing in the rain ...

OK, at least the Yellow tape is doing its magic. You can see the magic tape now in this image

Image

Below the Sun from today March 15th 2022

I start the mount, point at the sun and let it warm up in for about 30 minutes and I do not need to adjust the etalons nor the focus for both scopes thanks to the magic Yellow tape brand name " Tuk "

Sorry to hear bout the mount problems rainer, but you get excellent results with solar.

I want to get a new mount head at some point, My EQ6 is 16+ years old now...

Hi James,

No, the TOA 130 is carrying a spectroscope model LISA from Shelyak in France for Spectroscopy.

Below a spectrum of the Sun taken with this configuration

Nice work with the TOA130, Rainer. Spectroscopy is an interesting area of study. I am glad you did not de-commission your TOA130. I would have thought you had lost your mind!!

Decomissioning the Mewlon 250 already made me lose my mind as I was eager to get all those Arp Galaxies. The Mewlon 250 was working at 3200mm focal length and even so the Arp Galaxies were little fuzzies in a FOV of 17' x 17' arc minutes.

Maybe you can get another mount for the Mewlon and continue?

Lol. With that I could easily get my TOA130. How heavy is the Mewlon 250?

 looks like spaghetti junction with all those wires

Interesting that you leave the scopes in the Sun for 30 minutes before imaging.

Lovely shots too, and very nice to see the solar spectrum, not very often do we get one of those :bow :hamster:
