Sol'Ex conversion

Post by Bastelhannes »

I am not sure, if this is the right section, but it i a modification at least...

I had built up the Sol'ex from Christian Buil (http://www.astrosurf.com/solex/sol-ex-p ... on-en.html) some months ago and never had the time to try it.

After figuring out how to focus, how to take images and how to align all the stuff I got the first images. The focusing is not correct, the gain is too high (I am using a ND3.8 Baader Astro foil for energy rejection) but I like it...

A approximately halpha and a CaK line image attached...

Thank you for all the thank yous.

The next step is to motorize some parts of it to adjust the wavelengths and the focus easier.

This will lead to some more design:
1. the focusing motor should be easily interchangeable with other scopes. A 1:1 ratio of scopes and focusers would bee to expensive.
2. The rotating mechanisms of the grating must be modified...

Stay tuned...
