Hi Chris

Nicely done, how easy is it to keep the Chronograph aligned when your imaging.

There was a Lillie Chronograph with a Vixen 80mm on eBay recently

Kind regards

Richard

Thank you very much..
Actually its not a coronagraph but a wide slit spectroscope.
The old technique before h alpha filters were invented.
I've been using it for 24 years now.

And its a bit tricky and sensitive to keep the sun hidden by hand but as the occulting slit is bigger than the sun image at the focal plan its way much easier .

These results are always fun to see.
Great revival of an old method. I remember being intrigued by the device of Gene Frazier described in Scientific American’s “Amateur Scientist” column of March 1974. Same principle as yours but with some enhancement of dispersion by using a 2nd grating.
Cheers.
Peter
