New solar project 80mm

Post by Galosimo »

Hello my name is Galelli Simone from Italy and I would like to share with you the new solar project of my new 80mm solar telescope. I started with an 80ED F7 Svbony, 2 collimating lenses F6, external etalon lunt 50mm, 2 thrust bearings, extensions etc. I started with the shares obtained with the help of my friend Antonello Satta. I started by collimating the etalon, finding the rear focus position and collimating everything, then finding the exact position of the doublet with various extensions made by my trusted turner Gennaro Scotto Di Vetta. So designed I see the full disk in halpha. Initially, to tell the truth, I did not have the entire disc in band but then after some advice I had an aluminum container made to insert a thrust bearing inside the etalon to compress the etalon and have the sun in complete halpha. Now from perfect and very bright visions.

Well done, please post some solar images. It's really interesting to see how each modification performs.

Nice work! What do you use for collimation/refocusing, singlets or doublets?

My software:
Stackistry — an open-source cross-platform image stacker

I use 2 single lens, one lens 51mm-300 plus and one lens 51mm+300.
I’am a visualist and don’t take photo
