Ive done some trials this morning and the verdict says that the 600 lpm gives the best definition ...even if the contrast is weaker.
Could you try this : use the SHG with the 600 and the 1200 and expose for prominence. In both case use the very thin slit and show us the results... I really think there is something interesting to get there.

here is what i just got with the 600 lpmm!!! I'm still perplex about the result and what you could get on the sun with your SHG equipped with a 600 lpmm ...
