Daytime Arietid results 2022

Post by Wyvern »

Hi all,
For what they're worth, here is my take on the daytime Arietids for this year.

Lost 3/4 of a day's data due to a power outage that although short, seemed to upset the computer when it came back on and was only reset when I returned from work.
Main peak seems to have been detected at around 05-06UT on the 8th June for me, although similar activity still happening the following day (9th June). Also showing is a "spike" of activity on the 3rd at 05-06UT and a couple of further upticks on the 5th at 11-12UT and the 9th, also at 11-12UT.
Not aware of any unusual interference in the neighbourhood on these occasions, anyone else picked this up or have thoughts on it?
Regards to all,
Les

Hi Les,

Yes, I was wondering what are all those red dots in my graphs.

Are you sending data to the RMOB.org website ?

Thanks Les/Rainer,

Here are my data. There's a clear peak on June 7th (the official peak for the Arietids), but I'm also seeing an uptick in activity these past couple of days which could be a second wave, maybe? The meteor shower is quite long lasting, from May 29th through June 17th according to earthsky.org

Hi Stuart,

Great result. Comparing your graph and mine they look very similar.

I have a question. The Spectrum Lab csv data has in the first column the date made up by date and hour something like this 2022060722. The last two numbers are the hour. How can I truncate this two numbers and so they do not appear in the x axis ? I am using Open Office. Thanks

Hi Rainer,
In office you need to select the x-axis (time/date) values, right click and edit the format. The steps are as follows:

2.jpg
2.jpg (238.57 KiB) Viewed 741 times
3.jpg
3.jpg (236.66 KiB) Viewed 741 times
Step 3 gives you several options so you can explore the list to find the one that best suits your needs. They can be edited too to make them bespoke.

Hope this helps.

Stu.

Hi Stu,

Thank you very much. Your screenshots look completely different to my Open Office,

Have tried for a while but impossible to get a result. Will keep searching in the user manual.

Thanks

Hi Stu,

Coming back to this issue I see your screenshots are from Microsoft EXCEL ¿ right ?

No wonder I was not able to reproduce it in Apache Open Office

Ah.....I just saw the word 'office' when I quickly read through your post and assumed it was MS office and, therefore, excel. You should get excel. I'd be able to help you if you did   Open office isn't anything I've any experience with. Sorry.

You should get excel.
Hi Stuart,

In EXCEL I have no problem. I used EXCEL for many many years

Was looking at the price of Microsoft 365 Personal but buy it just because of a few grahps per year ¿?

Will think over it ...
