Today my daughter and I took a ride on a small pleasure boat along the Volga. Everything is like in childhood: a boat, a river and seagulls, which are fed with bread from the stern.
When I was 15 years old, my friend and I crossed the Volga. We were tired, but having had a rest, we had to swim back, because the clothes were left on the beach Now, when I am 40 and I see how wide the river is, I remember this with horror.

Re: seagulls
Absolutely beautiful the sunlight on all the little drops of water and the gulls wings are exquisite
It sounds like you had a fab time. However, swimming a river that wide sounds very dangerous to me, the current would be different in different parts and probably very strong. The water could also be different temperatures, that sounds like madness but I am very glad you survived

When I was a teenager, many people swam across the Volga, I did not hear that someone was drowning. The place was not the widest at about 550 meters, the photo shows a wider section of about 750 meters. The current carried us 400 meters, we knew about it and took it into account. In addition, we make training for about two months.
But, of course, it was a very stupid idea.
