June 22 2022 Imaging Session.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Imaging time from 15:00 to 16:00 UTC. The skies are clear with below average seeing. The temperature is 85F ( 29.4C ). I tried using the MacBook Pro and fireCapture first but really struggled. I could easily view the image realtime but could not successfully capture it. I somehow saved an SER file but found out that PhotoShop could not open it. I thought PhotoShop could open practically any image file!! How do you open one of those? I was using my ZWO ASI178MM. I'll try ASTRO IIDC with the PGR Grasshopper asap. AFTER I watch some tutorials!! Maybe I should do the same with FireCapture.

I ended up going back to the Windows 8 machine and SharpCap. SharpCap seems far more intuitive and easier to use than FireCapture is.

Anyway.... Little progress :-(

James

A promising start James. A SER file is a video file, you need to open it in AS3, stack it which will save as a TIFF which you can open in PS.

Mark,
Are there a way to do single frame captures in FireCapture that will save the image as a TIFF, PNG or Jpg file? I don’t think SharpCap is available for Mac.

James
The only way I can think of is setting the number of frames to capture to 1.
