Animation of AR3040 and 3042 6/29/2022

Post by rigel123 »

The second animation from yesterday, 45 minutes in real time presented here normally and inverted. A small flare occurred in AR3042 and there was quite a bit of fibril activity around both of the sunspots in these AR's. Not a lot of activity from that long filament though! No popcorn? Lovely animation and if I may ask, how often do you take a video to create the timelapse?

I always forget the popcorn! Thanks Nick, I capture 500 frames every 30 seconds for whatever period of time I want (or the clouds allow!). Typically between 30 minutes to several hours.

Thanks Alexandra! I have been blessed lately with cloudless skies but that appears to be ending over the next couple of weeks although I may get some breaks at times. The Hinode Solar Guider has really made capturing these much easier as I typically am free to do other things while it is keeping the area in the FOV. But I still find myself coming back to the screen frequently to watch for any surprises that might pop up. Then the batch processing in AS!3 and ImPPG really made a difference from the days that I would do the alignment and processing on each frame individually on Registax which took hours! It still can take hours for AS!3 to do all of the frames but I don’t have to be there! Oh, and I used to align each individual frame in Photoshop until I figured out that it could batch that process!
