I've been waiting for a PST to turn up on the used maket to do a PST mod.
I got tired of waiting so I took a gamble and bought a combo Quark.
The Quark will be getting long imaging sessions. My intention is to use my Quark for hi res animations with my 102mm refractor.
What would be the best choice of filter to mount inside the light cone away from the Quark?
I have a Svbony 2" UV/IR cut filter and a Svbony 2" 7nm H alpha filter that I could use.
Would stacking them provide better protection for the Quark?
I have considered a full aperture ERF , the only one available here is the Daystar one.
If I can use what I already have I'll save around $1200 AUD , but if I have to I'll go the ERF route.
Any comments or advice would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Martin

Re: New Combo Quark
Hello Martin,
i would indeed stack the uv / ir cut (first) and the svbony h-alpha filter (second) and place them relatively far away (to the front) from the focus point.
If you like the Quark you might consider a full aperture d-erf later on.
What will you use as telecentric?
Dennis

Re: New Combo Quark
I would not get the daystar one, because it passes much more heat then a D-ERF Type.
If you want a full aperture one, better see if you can get the D-ERF type.

Re: New Combo Quark
Good point Dennis, page 195 of Christians book SOLAR ASTRONOMY states that the Daystar ERF is dyed glass.

Looking forward to seeing the results from the Quark Martin.
