July 1 2022 Observations. Continuum.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

My session time is a short 15min between 15:30 and 15:45 UTC. The sky is almost overcast with a few thin cloud covered breaks within. It's only slightly better than yesterday. The seeing however looks decent and the temperature is 68F ( 20C )

I can see four spot groups on the continuum photosphere today as well as three areas of faculae.

An easy spot showing both umbra and penumbra is seen close to the NE limb. I can also easily see it's associated faculae. Some low contrast faculae are present near the WNW limb. At least in part these may be in association with AR13042. AR13040 is easily seen as 5 spots amid faculae approaching the WSW limb. The westernmost spot shows an umbra surrounded by a penumbra. A widely spaced double spot is seen in the SW quadrant. I wonder if these are indeed magnetically associated or mark separate regions. One or both could be associated with AR13045. Well NE of these is a closer small double spot that has a patch of faculae to it's SE. Another patch is further SE.

The granulation is visible without difficulty today.

Happy Friday!! 🍻

James

A nice quick session there JAmes ! Cloud and rain for me this saturday morning. I may get some breaks at some point over the weekend, but I suspect they will be sunocular glimpses.

Same here. Clouds. I am hoping for a break. Imaging is hoped for but visual is more likely.
