July 2nd Ha Set

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

Saturday started clear and the seeing was reasonable when I started to image, but by mid morning the daytime heating was starting to produce bands of clouds that aggravated the later part of the session while capturing the proms.

The first image is the full disk Ha taken with the DS LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800 + ASI294MM camera. I finally gave up trying to fine tune the tuning of the DS and accepted what I got :?

I changed over to the Orion EON 130 fitted with the home brew Ha DS, using a pair of Lunt DSII etalons and the B1800Ha blocker. A 2x barlow was added ahead of the camera to capture the AR's, filaments and proms in higher resolution. Most of the disk features were combined into mosaics of the areas around them:

The proms were not a large or detailed as others in recent weeks, but they still offed up a challenge as the clouds drifted through:

I was hoping to be able to move the solar equipment into the new dome by now, but a number of issues have stalled that move. I need to replace a computer, update some of the cabling to the mount/camera, and some more weather proofing needs to be done too. If all goes well I may have be up and running by next weekends Zoom meeting ;)

Brian:
Beautiful set of images in spite of seeing.
Looks like we all are having trouble with the weather and seeing.
Best wishes.
Eric.

Fabulous images Brian :bow :hamster: it doesn't sound good to hear you need to do more weather proofing on the new dome, how problematic is leaky domes in general?

Great images Brian! Even though the proms are small you got wonderful details that close up!

Alexandra and Warren...

Thanks for your comments and feedback on the session...very much appreciated :bow

Alexandra the dome itself is not the problem, it is my interface to match it up to my roof that has a couple of spots that I missed with caulking. I think they are sealed up now but need a rain to test it or run the garden hose back and give it a shower
