Lunt Solar

Post by Alto »

Having just dropped by Lunt's website, am I right in thinking they are moving away from the dedicated ha solar instruments? I could only find 40, 50 and 152!

I was kind of edging towards a 100 dedicated, but that seems an unlikely route to upgrade from my ls60tha. Maybe I will 'just' have to hope a 60 filter comes in stock and stay at that. Hoping the external ones are still being made!,,, Out of stock at my "local", no idea on dates, other than the Quarks are due soon.

I don't have any skills to mod the 60 with a larger refracter.

You will find the 60, 80 & 100 under "Universal & Solar Telescopes". These scopes are now modular i.e. can be quickly converted for night-time use as well.

Quark Chromosphere, Lunt LS60MT DS, Lunt Ca-K B1200 module, Baader herschel wedge
Sky-Watcher ED120 & ED80, StellaLyra 8" CC
Sky-Watcher EQ6R-Pro, ZWO AM5
ZWO ASI120MM, ASI174MM, ASI290MM, ASI1600MM

Indeed, thanks Rob.

But I was referring to the dedicated scopes, not the hybrid ones.

Fair enough although I don't think there is much of a difference in spec - apart from charging more of course !
Astrograph still seem to list the dedicated ones but whether they can get them or not I don't know. Drop Simon an email he is very helpful.

Secondary Question for anyone who pops by

Post by Alto »

Forget the upgrade to 100 - hand on heart the number of viewing options these past few years I'd not get bang for buck!

Get Quark - could doublestack with LS60 - and/or use on a 102 APO. Less expensive, even with an extra filter in the chain.

Wait on the external filter to DS the LS60 - more expensive, but able to mod and continue to remote image....

Any thoughts from the community?
