Hi all...
I am planning to attend as well.
A question I was hoping to have someone delve into is gain setting during capture. It has traditionally been advised to be kept low, but the 'unity gain' for the CMOS chips is usually 100 or more and I have been using these higher settings for some time and it seems to be working fine (IMHO ) Comments on the subject?

Re: July Zoom Hangout Sunday (July 10th) 1800UTC
Great Meeting and fantastic resource of information. I appreciate everyone's patience with my newbie questions.
I have been messing around with DSO for years, but they reccently opened a new tollroad about a 1/4 mile from my house with those gigantic flood lights about every 100 yards. Getting data for DSOs takes a hugh amount time now, even when using NB filters. I am thinking Solar maybe more suited for my location, and good news it is not effected by light pollution.
Curious, is there any other location for the recorded sessions other than Steven's YouTube channel I checked and could only find two pass Solar Chat sessions on the YouTube channel. One from June and another one from February. I was just curious if there was another locaion for the past Solar Chats. Sometimes I can't make the live sessions, but always find them educational. Nothing beats live demos on different topics.
If Steven sees this, it would be super helpful if you could create a Playlist on your YouTube channel just for these solar chats. Right now they are kind of intermingled with a lot of Birding videos. I get you are probably extreamly busy, so just a suggestion.
Thanks All
Andrew J

I too once was big into deep sky observing but in the last 20 years light pollution has exploded in the area where I live. Back in the 1970's and 1980's we had nice dark skies but now the skies are rapidly becoming a washed out blue-grey and the Milky Way, while still visible is becoming quite washed out and I'll be surprised if it's visible at all in another decade. I now would have to go deep into the mountains NW of my home to get a dark view end even then it isn't what it used to be. One hope for me is that my dad's place just outside of Lowndesville still has rural dark skies and the Milky Way still shows detail well to the naked eye. I'll probably end up moving down there within a couple of years and that may resurrect deep sky observing for me. But like you have said, Solar observing is immune to light pollution and is certainly a great alternative to nighttime observing of any type. And the Sun changes more than any other object I know of. It's so dynamic. Never boring.

Pretty much the same situation here near Houston, TX. Hope to move to some darker skies myself in a few years
