Order of topics

Post by JohnW »

14th July ... I just wondering if it is possible to keep posted topics in order of receipt. I continually get frustrated by old topics getting lifted above recent topics because somebody has made a comment. I found a topic I posted last night was way below my older topics. You have really got to go looking for recent dated stuff. Thanks. John W.

Hi John,

I'm not sure that is possible. The forum puts topics at the top which have the most recent post (comment on them).
To try and combat that a bit I always try to comment on the bottom posts first and work my way upwards, that way the posts stay in the same order. But if someone starts at the top and works down then all the comments will be in reverse order.

You can always bump your post upwards by adding another comment. It's not much help I know.

apparently, in your own user preferences there is a section where you can order the posts and topics by several different methods. Perhaps one of these options will suit your needs.

I can disable “bumping” of topics all together on the forum also. I dont care either way on that one as I want everyone to be happy.
Maybe Alexandra and some others may weigh in on whether they think this would matter.

Thanks Stephen, you are a mine of information. I never knew you could do all of this :) It would be intriguing to try some of these options for a day or so to see what happens.

Sounds to me if individuals can set their own preferences on this it is the way forward.
