DAYSTAR QUARK MOD | Save your Quark

Post by pedro »

As some of you already know my Daystar Quark was getting worse and worse and I decided to remove the blocking filter and use a Coronado BF15 and a Baader 35nm H-alpha filter as well. The Quark came alive. It is much better and the problem I had was related to the blocking filter (that gets deteriorated with time).

Please check out the video and a few images as well. If your Quark goes bad you can always mod it. I will use only for imaging

I've tried this before too Pedro, it works well.

The only thing I would suggest is to put the Baader 35nm Ha on the nosepiece of the Coronado diagonal, this will prolong the life of the ITF in the BF15 as this is a soft coated blocker.

You can replace the rusted filter in the Quark too with the OEM part from Andover.

Thanks Mark

Good to know. I am using a BF15 that was repaired by Beloptik (ITF replacement - https://beloptik.de/en/itf-replacement-filter/) but it helps to use the Baader 35nm filter in front of the BF

best regards
