Sun in H-Alpha, CaK and Continuum 27th of July 2022

Post by arnedanielsen »

Dear friends,

Nice and sunny from around noon and throughout the afternoon. Did the regular FD's before I went on to shooting the ARs with slightly higher magnification in CaK. I finished the day off with a sequence recording of AR3066 in CaK which I'm hoping to make a time-lapse from. The computer is still chewing through the 1.4TB of data for this. I will post the result later if it turns out ok.

In the meantime here are the still images...

Excellent Arne! That is a ton of data to slog through for that animation, good luck!

VERY nice work Arne! You have all three lights covered. I especially notice your CaK. They show the plage so well!!

Two thumbs up!!

Thank you very much everyone for all your kind comments! Much appreciated.

Finally finished processing the data for the animation. For some reason the recording cadence varied at a couple of places (the computer was probably slowed down by some background process) causing a slight variation of speed in the resulting time-lapse. Also, the recording was done with the scope mounted on the SolarQuest (AltAz) so you will have to live with some field rotation. Anyway, here's the resulting time-lapse:

Nice Arne. I don’t find the field rotation detracting.
