Session time is 15:11 to 16:14 UTC. The skies are mostly cloudy with fair/average seeing. I had to struggle with seeing through thin clouds. The temperature is 78F ( 25.5C )
Coronado SolarMax II 60 SS & DS. 16x and 25x ( Ha )
Today I got six active regions on the Ha solar disc. One in the northern hemisphere that is unnumbered and five in the southern hemisphere with all five having numbers. GONG BBSO shows two additional ones in the northern hemisphere that I could not see through the thin clouds. A small additional one in the south also proves invisible in the hazy cloud. I see not a trace of the big prom left on the NE limb. It appears to be truly gone today.
I can see only a small plage near the NE limb. A small but visible filaprom is seen just north of it. I can also see a " blotch " filament well NW of it but still in the NE quadrant. Some decent prominences lie on the NE limb one looking a bit like a short set of pincers. I cannot see much in the NW quadrant but I can see a small curved prominence on the NW limb.
The SW quadrant shows three easy active regions. AR13068 ( Top ) shows a couple of spots with southeastward trailing plage. AR13072 ( Middle ) shows a spot also with some plage to the SE. AR13073 ( Bottom ) Shows a couple of spots among plage. AR13071 in the SE quadrant shows a single spot with an easy filament emanating from it and trailing a significant distance to the southeast. Plage and a smaller filament lie to the ESE of the spot. AR13074 in the far SE quadrant is visible as a spot with plage to it's ENE. Two filaments lie to it's S-SW. One is thin and straight and the other is a small bowed object. I also see a filament well to the NW of AR13074. Surprisingly filaments seem to be easy to see through these high very thin clouds.
The chromospheric mottles are visible but soft.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope 25x, 50x and 62.5x ( WL )
Today I got seven active regions in white light continuum. Two in the northern hemisphere that are just patches of faculae and five in the southern hemisphere that all have spots and assigned numbers.
I see a patch of faculae in the NE quadrant just off the limb. SDO HMIc high rez shows a couple of pores there that I did not see. It also shows a spot on the limb SE of it! I did not see that spot visually. The NW quadrant shows a thin line of faculae near the limb. I see no spots or pores there.
I see a trio of spot groups in the SW quadrant nearing the limb. AR13068 ( Top ) Shows two spots with a shared indented penumbrae. I see three more smaller spots to the north and northeast. Faculae stretch to the SE. SDO HMI shows a few more pores here. AR13072 ( Middle ) shows two spots to the west and a small spot to the east with a tiny barely visible pore between them. Faculae are barely visible surrounding them. AR13073 ( Bottom ) Is a spot with a double umbra with a common penumbra. Two smaller spots/pores lie to their west. Faculae can be seen there.
AR13071 is seen only as a single spot that has an ovalish umbra surrounded by an oval penumbra. I can see a faint tiny light bridge in it at 62.5x! I see no faculae or other spots/pores. AR13074 is seen further NE of AR13071 and shows a single spot showing easy umbra-penumbra form. Faculae are easily seen ENE of the spot. SDO HMI shows two tiny pores very close to the east of the spot. I could not see them.
The granulation was only barely visible.
James
P.S. Right before I started typing this lightning hit one of our TVs and also took out the modem. I have currently connected my computer to the iPhone's hotspot to do this.

Re: August 6 2022 Observations
Yeah I am ok. I heard an arc when the lightning hit. Probably fried the modem. I think it came through the cable line. The computers are ok. Surge protectors may have saved them.
