Between The Clouds - August 9, 2022

Post by Sumpy »

Was barely able to grab anything today. Finally caught a small break between the clouds and managed to grab a single full disk image.

Sumpy,
I noticed that you are almost a local to me. I live just east of Hendersonville in the Edneyville community of western North Carolina. You appear to live just across the state line in NE Tennessee. My family are from the Sevierville/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. That's pretty cool.

That's a nice image. You are probably in the eastern time zone too so I bet our observing/imaging sessions often occur close together.

Indeed, I'm just barely in Tennessee right across the state border north of Marshall, North Carolina. We're actually in Asheville fairly regularly, and I've driven through Hendersonville more than once. Such a small world!

I'm originally from eastern Kentucky but ended up here for work many years ago. Now that my work is remote, we're looking to move back up that way soon. I need to get out of these suburbs so I can build some sort of permanent observatory. :)

Thanks so much for the kind words, everyone! Hopefully I can make small incremental gains as I continue to learn more about solar astronomy and photography.

Sumpy,
My daughter lives in Weaverville just north of Asheville and heads north into Tennessee fairly often. With most on here being a significant distance from me it’s nice to see someone close!!

 In the SE United States " ....ville " is very common but not all towns have this suffix. Some like Charlotte and Atlanta don't have it and then there are small towns like Iva that are named after people Steven would say " It's a southern thang "!!
