August 5th - Ha

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

I had my first clear day since returning from holidays in western Canada on Friday to do some solar work. I was trying to follow posts while away and posts replies and thanks as time permitted...I missed a lot of activity while away, but nice to see what others were able to post :bow First views through the LS80T showed that there was still a nice amount of activity in the AR. filaments, and proms. I was surprised that there was still a bit of the NW prom floating away when I was imaging.

The first image is the FD Ha as captured through the DS solar scope, using the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha and the ASI1600MM camera with a 1.6x barlow in the nosepiece. The fist is a composite of separate disk.limb exposures (limb inverted) and the second has the disk blocked out:

I shot images through the home-brew DS made up of the Orion EON 130 OTA/pair DSII etalons/B1800Ha, and the best were the ones taken at prime focus...the seeing was not the best by mid morning, though I may salvage a few taken with the 2.5x Powermate, but I'll post later if they turn out.

The images of the disk details were made into a pair of mosaics, one for the Eastern disk and another for the west side:

The main prom of interest was on the NE limb, as well as a few other small ones on the SW and SE limbs:

That is all I have processed so far worth posting...I may addmore ;)

Great series Brian: like Warren, I really like the detached plasma floating. Looks like you got a good session.
