Saturday Sun 13th August 2022
A few from this morning across the spectrum in Ha, CaK and 'WL'. A beautiful day, but too hot to be out for too long and the seeing conditions were getting worse by the minute. The images are not in chronological order.
First up are my 'WL' images, taken at 430 nm. These are 4 pane mosaics on a Tecnosky 125 mm f7.8 with a 90 mm mask. A Lacerta solar wedge was used for these shots fitted with a suitable filter. The camera was a Basler acA2440-75 um.

Next up are a few images in CaK (FD and closer views of the main sunspots) all were taken on the same scope/camera with a Lunt CaK B1800 module fitted with an additional Omega filter. The FD is a 4 pane mosaic and the closer views were imaged with a 2.7x Barlow.

Unnumbered active region (I assume this one will be AR13081). The newest active region on the eastern limb.

Finally AR13074 in Ha using my single stacked 250 mm RC telescope fitted with a Basler acA1920-155 um camera and 2.5x PM. No excuses...but the seeing really wasn't up to it with the growing heat of the morning (this was taken first thing, as soon as the rising Sun hit the scope). Consequently I've processed the life out of the original image to try to make something half decent. These super warm days (for us Brits) don't really lend themselves to large aperture hi-res imaging. Anyhow, here's the result.....

Trying to cool off indoors, processing and uploading these images....but still too warm. I need ice cream
Thanks for looking.

Hi Stuart,
Excellent work and imaging !
How did you cope with those temperatures ?
I was too scared of the high temps and stayed indoors !
DId you manage to measure the seeing quality ? I think in high heat, the seeing may not be too good, especially if you imaging over houses or concrete ??

I image early in the morning to avoid the heat. This provides the best seeing which rapidly deteriorates as the roofs and driveways around me warm in the summer Sun. It’s a small window of opportunity because much of my view towards the east is blocked by my neighbours’ house and trees.
