White light flare. 1886

An amateur astronomer caught this one in 1886. Could one of us catch one? If so I would be nervous. A white light flare would be excessively energetic and could be a threat to our technological society.

I dream of seeing/catching a WL flare James, but I think it is probably highly impossible in my lifetime as I haven't even observed at hi res in WL this year :( I think you have to be watching all the time.

It would in my guess probably have to be a very strong flare. X10 or above. They are fortunately quite rare. They have damaging side effects! Back in 1886 electricity saw very limited use. In Richard Carrington’s time ( 1859 ) it was only the telegraph system.
