August 31st Sunset and Waning Summer

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

We have had some beautiful sunsets lately, and last night was no exception. I have posted several cell phone pics below showing the view pre-sunset as well as a few of the crescent moon in the twilight sky. I have included a pic of the new fertilizer plant at my work (taken as I was going home) and another pair of a derelict barn against the sunset:

The pic of the rainbow was taken on Tuesday evening after a rainstorm passed:

As we move into early September I can see the summer starting to wane...our 'social' summer and the return to school ends this weekend, though end of astronomical summer is still three weeks off. From my perspective, summer lasts until we get a significant colour change in the hardwood trees...true autumn scenery. As it is, harvest of most crops is still a few weeks to a month away but I am seeing the fruit trees, grape vines and garden crops rapidly maturing.

Beautiful images Brian :bow :hamster: you make me want to go and buy new pencils and pencil case  I saw a beautiful sunset on our walk last night but it was right over an Aldi supermarket so ruined the composition really, so didn't bother :)

Thanks Alexandra :bow

The novelty of going back to school might wear off after a few days though ;)
