This has always been a difficult species for me. While I've photographed it a few times over the past years, this is the first time I'm getting a shot that I consider good enough (admittedly, I'm difficult/demanding in that regard, but still ).
So very happy with the encounter and photo.

Gosh, is that a baby or a very bad moult that's a superb shot though. It looks like you caught him with a bad hair day and he looks embarrassed

The latter, I think. Most of the birds in the area were looking a bit worse for wear plumage wise. Can't imagine they were all having a bad hair day
