Beautiful surface animation 06-Sep with extremely good seeing

Post by minhlead »

Yesterday I had a session with the best seeing that I have ever seen in VN.
The surface detail via live view seems rock steady without any turbulance. I managed to stack 30% of the frame caputured (normaly this would just be under 10%).
The seeing shows in the final product which is extremely steady and sharp through out the animation.
I hope you guys would enjoy this as much as I am. Not much activity is showns but plenty of spicule/ subtle filament movement that can be seen due to excellent seeing condition.

Look at the waves coming from around that spot in the lower right. That in itself is an amazing capture. I have seen few amateur animations that capture this phenomenon that clearly.

Superbly done!!

Two thumbs up!! 👍🏻 👍🏻 :hamster: :bow

@James: I did not notice that . What caused that pulsating wave? It seems I white clipped that a bit. Let see if I can get a better processing on that part later.

I doubt individual frames will reveal much. This phenomenon would not be noticeable on stills. Only when put together and ran as an animation will the waves reveal themselves. It almost certainly could not be observed visually either.

This is one of the most incredible animations I've ever seen. Extremely well done! :bow

Plus I learned about Alfvén waves today because of this image, so doubly good! :)

That's my favorite thing about SolarChat. It's not the equipment or images but it's learning about our parent star through the efforts of our community in any way each of us choose that interests me most. It's the learning factor!

Fantastic work! Congrats, Minh!

I agreed with folks, it looks like running penumbral waves with the cadence around 3-4 min, which became visible because of faster gif playback. Last year, increasing the gif speed of Ha closeup animation, I had similar result around umbra. In studies, it has been noted that the phenomenon is also observed in Ca lines. It would be curious to check this.

thanks for sharing

Thanks guys.
This is really a surprise to me to see that I got this phenomenon. It's completely unexpected. I did not expect much of the animation since the region looks calm. I just did not want to waste such a great seeing condition so I took the animation simply because there is not much activity else where (the limb is particularly calm that day).
Also I took plenty of animation but have never ever seen anything like that around a spot. I think this is due to the excellent seeing that I got that session.
I did over processed things a bit and whiteclipped the spot. Let me crop it out, reprocessing and see if we can get a better look at what happening on the spot.

Beautiful animation Minh.

Very sharp and smooth and a very good display of the Alfvén waves!

May I suggest that you crop the animation slightly to get rid of the artifacts around the edges to make the animation even cleaner.

Arne
