Hello everybody.
To expand the possibilities of viewing the sun, I like to experiment with a spectroheliograph. On the net and also from my trusted dealer, Skypoint, I found good evaluations on the product of the Shelyak company consisting of a set of optical components to be mounted on a container of which the construction drawings are provided for the realization through a 3D printer; it is the Sol'Ex project.
I therefore kindly ask for an evaluation on the actual validity of this instrumentation or on any other solutions you suggest.
The instrumentation should be used on both the two refractors in my possession: Tecnosky 80/480 and TEC140 mainly for the sun.
Thank you
Carlo

Re: New spectroheliograph assessment
It is a good project. It is really meant for shorter length focal lengths. 480mm will just about allow a full disk. The Solex website http://www.astrosurf.com/solex/sol-ex-p ... on-en.html provides most of the information necessary to complete the project.
Here is an example of someone who finished building his instrument only quite recently (I think in July) and is now getting very good results: https://groups.io/g/Solex-English/message/286

Re: New spectroheliograph assessment
Thank you for confirming the validity of the Sol'ex solution and for the useful information relating to the Sol'ex forum. I certainly have a lot to study in this almost unknown field.thesmiths wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 2:45 pm It is a good project. As well as the English Solex forum https://groups.io/g/Solex-English there is the original French version https://groups.io/g/Solex-project. The French forum has been around longer and generally has more advanced users.
