September 15th Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day all...

I was home for lunch today and decided to make a trip trip to the observatory to grab a few images. I wasn't aware of the huge prom, and was really impressed with it and the other features visible. Sadly, I was tight for time and the seeing was very bad and figured I'd only do WL and Ha full disk images.

With the great details offered I added a 3x focal extender to do some quick imaging in greater resolution, but between the seeing and chronic newton rings the results were not great. Flats removed the worst of the NRs, but I should have set the tilt adjuster up. Despite the issues I was glad to get the big prom and the activity on the NW limb to come out fairly well.

I should have taken time to convert the Orion 130mm OTA over from night use to the DS Ha system, but I was glad to get these ;)

Maurits and Alexandra...

Thank you for your feedback on the images...always appreciated :bow

Alexandra, the observatories biggest bonus is the massive reduction in setup/take down time. I've been spoiled that way for decades

Thanks !!!

It showed best at the shorter focal length...soft in the close up.

Fantastic work with the prom, Brian ! That is such a lucky catch... I missed all the recent major proms but I have hope for the future.
