Hide and seek on Sept15

Post by gabrieli »

A very uncooperative sky today with a constant threat for clouds creeping into your frame. Recordings had to be limited to 600 frames or less to avoid cloud shadows messing up the files. While recording, I had to feep glancing up to check that clouds weren't drifting over the sun. At one point grey clouds bunched up so thick that it looked like imminent rain.
I packed up. Then, a quarter hour later, it mostly cleared and I went back out.

Images were obtained in the somewhat turbulent clear regions between clouds and turned out ok.
The full disk was done using a 2 panel mosaic using a double stacked LS60MT + a 2.3x Baader barlow on an ASI1600.
The higher res images were done using a 135 Baader D-ERF on a Stellarvue 127 with a Quark Chromosphere on an ASI1600.
For one image I double stacked the Quark Chromosphere with a PST etalon on the Quark.

Great images Lou, but I'll be real honest and say the pink is not my favorite! But then again, I'm pretty much B&W only so probably in the minority!

Hi, Warren

I'll probably look for another colour scheme eventually to replace the pink tone just as I got a little tired of the more natural colour. Black and white is actually my preference too maybe because it reminds me of the first Ha images I saw long ago and perhaps because it involves less processsing.
