New Solar Setup first light 19-09-2022

Post by Martin_S »

Last week I upgraded to a 120mm f8.3 refactor to use with my Combo Quark and TZ4. The weather gremlins were out in full force, so I spent my time perfecting my semi remote setup .After 6 days of waiting I finally got to use my new rig.

Here are some pictures of the new setup and some captures from today, plus a short 40 minute animation, I took of a solar flare that just happened to erupt at the worst time of the day when the atmosphere is the most turbulent,

Wow, great shots Martin and awesome animation! Looks like you have a successful first light with your setup. Did you use ImPPG to try and align your animation frames? I’m thinking that should give you a bit more stability for the frames.

Hi Warren, I tried ImPPG but could not get the frames aligned, I don't think there were enough reference points to align with.

Great new setup Martin, a bit similar to mine but definitely more sophisticated in terms of control. Great first light, that 120ED is known to be a great scope.

Very nice setup and images Martin!

Lots of activity in the animation... it's a pity ImPPG wasn't able to stabilize it better.

Best regards,
Arne
