AR3102 Calcium H September 17, 2022
Hello all: yesterday afternoon a session trying to capture detail of AR3102 in Calcium H. I used the TZ-4 and the FLIR 174 camera for this image. I also used the Apollo 432 camera, still trying to find out if anything good came of it.

Looks great Franco! My only comment would be to back off on the exposure a bit. Might be worth when weather and time permits running a set with the dial in differnt settings on the Quark, see what the outcome is.

Thank you, Mark, good advice. I will see what else I have in the data from Saturday.

Thank you David and Arne. This is different processing of the same image. Maybe better ?

I like the CaH images. Have you had a chance to evaluate your Apollo 432?

Excellent, Franco. Nice rework. You’re really homing in on perfection.

Re: AR3102 Calcium H September 17, 2022
Thank you Alan, Mark, Stu, Alexandra and Starhugger: you are all very kind.
Alan: I have not completely figured out the Apollo camera yet. It seems to have great potential with the large pixels at high res but also has some limitations for me. 1) only 1.7Mp, there is a definite difference when compared with the 2.35 Mp of the FLIR174. It is about half price but the lower resolution is apparent in the results. I find sharpening Apollo camera images much harder then the 174's because of the lower resolution. 2) This is only Franco specific: I always forget to zoom out on Firecapture the subject of the image and end up having it in a corner. The chip is so large that to correctly position the subject you have to zoom out first, position the subject in the center and then zoom in and shoot. This is the only camera I have this issue with. A positive is that allows gamma, while the FLIR174 does not (at least mine does not in Firecapture). I am continuing to evaluate the camera while trying to learn how to use it best.

I like them all Franco but the new processing show the fine details better.

Ah, every time I see your CaH images, Franco, I get the urge to get Daystar CaH Quark too! These are fantastic! Second processing shows those small bright areas better. Following with interest what results in you get with Apollo 432. It certainly has potential!
