After a period of relative calm the geomagnetic silence was abruptly broken in the late hours of October 2nd with the arrival of a southerly oriented solar wind stream originating from coronal holes on the Sun. My magnetometer kicked into action, recording the entire event as beautiful aurora danced in the north and south beyond visual reach from my home in the UK. Some in the UK got to see the northern lights and others around the world too. Let me know if you saw anything yourself.
We might experience a few CME impacts over the coming days or week or two with the recent activity and new strong active region in the east.
Thanks for looking.
Stu.

Up to 10!!! I certainly heard from the BAA (aurora section) that they had a good view last night up in Scotland.
