Looking good John,I have just placed an order with Azur3d Print for the Sol'Ex casing and a few accessories, will get in touch with Shelyak later in the week to order the optical kit. Christian Buil makes it look so easy to set the instrument up in his videos so can you please enlighten me on what problems lie ahead.

Alun

Lunt 50THa solar scope
Lunt CaK B12 module
SW Evostar 72ED for full disk imaging
Sol'Ex SHG

Bresser 90 f/10 achromat used for CaK & white light imaging & PST mod with Lunt 100mm ERF
Coronado SM40 (pre Meade) and BF10 filter set + SMII 60 richview DS etalon

basically, his videos are good you must pay attention to details especially with slit collimator build
1) collimator lens is only 80mm FL need to get that focus right ( I think im still a tad off after 4 tries)
2) need to pay attention to pressure on dial or else slit will be off to one side
3) SW brightness settings are different if set to high you get black band thru center

on the good side
slit is nice and clean
its compact and light
make sure you have ERF or Herchel to cut heat down or you may crack glass

Thank you John,I can see where the problem with collimation focus lies as the box holding the slit plate has to be loosened off and slid in/out rather than acting on the lens itself so can well believe it is a fiddly job. As to Herschel wedge I have one I can use but I also have a Hoya pro ND 16 neutral density filter which I use with the 72ED and Lhires III with no damage to the glass slit plate.
