Medium resolution CaK images and timelapse from August 14th 2022

Post by arnedanielsen »

Dear friends,

Rain and clouds have prevented me from doing much imaging lately, but have given me some time to process some older recordings.

Here are a few images and a short timelapse of selected AR's in CaK from 14th of August 2022.

Click on images to view them in full size on AstroBin.

CaK images using a FLO StellaMira 80mm ED f/10, Lunt CaK 1200 module Coronado 2x 1.25" Cemax Barlow (working at 1.83x for a focal-length of 1465mm) and a Player One Mars-M camera mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest.

Time-lapse animation created from 110 recordings between 07:50 and 08:45UT on August 14th 2022. Each recording was 20 seconds long with a framerate of 135fps (2700 frames) and a 10 seconds delay between each recording. The best (sharpest) 100 frames from each recording was stacked in AutoStakkert!3 before they were aligned, sharpened in ImPPG and contrast-stretched in Adobe Photshop.

The animation created in PIPP at 12fps effectively compressing the 55 minutes of duration down to just 9 seconds. The setup was same as above.

Arne

Great series of images, Arne, very well done. A lot of work for the animation but was well worth it, excellent result.

Very nice on all Arne. I love the animation. Look at all the numerous flickering bright points. They remind me of Ellerman bombs seen in blue-winged Ha images. Could they be one in the same?

I didn't think you suffered from rain and clouds Arne :)

That is a very fine CaK animation. It looks like most of the bright points are stable arch filament footpoints but there is a small area to the right of the main spot that really gets going and blows off some material. This is very nice work :bow :hamster: :movie

I'm not sure about this. Maybe some others on the forum know the answer to this?

Looks like the clouds (and rain) arrived just in time! Totally clouded out here! :-(
